Travel Registration Service for Americans Abroad

The U.S. government allows Americans traveling and living abroad to take advantage of its Travel Registration Service. This free service allows Americans to record their trip information or overseas residences, passport details and their e-mail addresses with the State Department to receive assistance in case of emergency.

In the event of a natural disaster, terrorist attack or evacuation plans, the U.S. consular officers can notify those Americans abroad (as was the case recently in Lebanon). Check for more information.
