Outside of Tunis is the wonderful area of Sidi Bou Said... a picturesque 15th century town, which today attracts writers and poets from around the world. There are many wonderful homes, all hidden behind colorful doors, on its winding alleyways. Another important place is the holy city of Kairoaun, founded in the 7th century, with the oldest mosque in the Arab world. It is very beautiful in its simplicity and considered the fourth most important Arab holy city.
