Hello! I am a native European who speaks fluent French and German. Not only have I lived in Europe, but I have frequently traveled there from the British Isles all the way to Russia and Turkey on the eastern side. I have flown within Europe, taken its trains, driven its roads, rented a canal boat, and have organized group trips there, too. I have extensive experience with making arrangements for European vacations. I look forward to assisting you with your Europe travels.

While studying at U.C. Berkeley, I was fortunate to be accepted as an exchange student at the Institute of European Studies, affiliated with the University of Vienna. I gained valuable insights into the European culture by living with a Viennese family and traveling extensively during the school holidays.

Since those days, I have returned to Europe many times and have continued to enjoy and study its culture. I am a Certified Destination Specialist for Western Europe and also a BritAgent for the British Isles. One of the things that keeps me going back is my love of opera. For twenty years I have worked with Sacramento Opera to develop and escort opera tours, not only to Europe, but to exciting venues around the world. We have been to performances at London’s Covent Garden, Paris’s Opera Garnier, Milan’s Teatro LaScala, the Temple of Karnak in Egypt, the Bolshoi in Moscow, and many more.

In addition to the music of Europe, I have enjoyed hiking and biking in Burgundy, cruising the rivers Rhine, Danube, Rhone and Elbe, and hiking in the Bavarian Alps.

If you are looking for help planning a special trip to Europe, I would love to share my knowledge of some its delights and unique places

After more than 40 years of visiting Europe and elsewhere, I take delight in arranging for others the never ending experiences Europe provides: whether you are seeing some of it for the first time, re-visiting favorite places, visiting relatives, or maybe taking grandchildren for the first time. How about attending a cooking school in France or Tuscany, Italy? Maybe a wine tour in Southern France, or a river cruise. All of these learning experiences are truly "trips of a lifetime". I would love to help make your European vacation dream a reality!

from a client:
For a second summer in a row, the arrange-ments you made for our family's European travels have been superb! We have had extremely complicated flight needs, we expected to see cities in rather short time frames, and we needed to please kids ranging in age from 16 to 8, as well as us. Not only did the trip go smoothly, we feel truly immersed in the history and culture of some amazing places!
In London, we absolutely loved the Haymarket Hotel, where we stayed two nights, and the Covent Garden Hotel, where we were only able to stay one night (we definitely wish we could have lingered). The Haymarket Hotel has the most unique, eclectic and beautiful decor! It was so exciting to experience this new jewel.
In Italy, we were so pleased with our guides. In Venezia, we enjoyed a half day learning about the history and architecture of this truly unique place, including "express" entrances to the Campanile and the Basilica San Marco (with water rising in the Piazza!). The following day, we thoroughly enjoyed our water taxi and terrific guided tour of the islands of Murano, Torcello and Burano, highlighted by the glass blowing and private demonstration at CAM. As we proceeded to Firenze, we again were dazzled by our guide, Enza, who was impressivelyknowledgeable about over a thousand years of history and architecture. We also were overjoyed at the beauty, service and ambience of the Grand Hotel Villa de Medici, especially its great pool and garden.
All in all, these experiences have created memories that will last a lifetime for all of us. Thank you so much for being not just an outstanding travel agent, but a trusted advisor on how to get the most out of every aspect of enjoying some of the world's greatest cities. Where do you think we should plan on going next?!
     Sincerely, Shari D.
