Not only have I lived in Europe, but I have frequently traveled there from the British Isles all the way to Russia and Turkey on the eastern side. I have flown within Europe, taken its trains, driven its roads, rented a canal boat, and have organized group trips there, too. I have extensive experience with making arrangements for European vacations. I look forward to assisting you with your Europe travels.

I was a young and untraveled California girl on my first trip to Europe with my best friend. Just one look and I fell in love with the Old World. It was everything the New World, and particularly California, was not. We were captivated by Mod London, charmed by Amsterdam’s canals and dazzled by the City of Light, Paris! I remember to this day the exciting sense of connectedness I felt with past generations when I touched the stone walls of centuries-old Westminster Abbey. I imagined what secrets and insights they might reveal if only…. I was thrilled by my first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. I was overwhelmed by the vivid, rich hues of famous paintings I’d seen only on TV or textbook pages and the much more intense, delicious flavors of fresh milk and butter than that back home. All the books I’d read and the movies I’d seen finally, magically, came to life. It was mind-boggling!
No matter how many times I have returned to crisscross and circle Europe, I always find something new and engaging among the timeless cobblestone streets, vibrant crowds, open-air markets and local cuisines. I love discovering special hotels and restaurants, exploring new terrain, wine tasting, museums and galleries, bicycling or driving trips and lush landscapes. Even getting lost and finding my way again provides an opportunity to connect with the place and local residents. Each visit, the journey has far outweighed the final destination. I just can’t think of anything more personally enriching.
The enjoyment and satisfaction I feel every time I get to introduce someone to Europe for the first time, or to a new region or city, to experience its tastes, sights and sounds, is what keeps me excited about travel planning and gives me a fresh sense of purpose with each client’s trip. I’d love to design your dream vacation to Europe and help make your first trip— or your latest of many—as memorable as my first.

Having travelled most of the Mediterranean: Spain, French Riviera, most of Italy, Greek Isles, Slovenia, Croatia, and Turkey, I’ve customized vacations from budget to luxury, handled ship charters in the Mediterranean, and designed some amazing religious travel experiences along the Route of the Apostle Paul. Imagine a winery taking 20 of their friends on an intimate French Barge cruise with pre and post extensions beginning and ending in Paris, or bringing your friends on a customized tour of the Italy countryside in palatial villas while sampling wines, taking a cooking class, visiting museums, and visiting vineyards of Tuscany. I’ve designed tours visiting the sights of the Early Christian Church in England, Luther’s Reformation in Germany, and tours along the Rhone River, taking in sights of the French Huguenot history while learning about Burgundy wines of the region. If you are an art aficionado, you won’t want to miss quaint towns of Provence, Rome, and Florence. My clients feel comfortable with the knowledge and expertise I’ve been able to deliver for their Europe vacation.

While studying at U.C. Berkeley, I was fortunate to be accepted as an exchange student at the Institute of European Studies, affiliated with the University of Vienna. I gained valuable insights into the European culture by living with a Viennese family and traveling extensively during the school holidays.
Since those days, I have returned to Europe many times and have continued to enjoy and study its culture. I am a Certified Destination Specialist for Western Europe and also a BritAgent for the British Isles. One of the things that keeps me going back is my love of opera. For twenty years I have worked with Sacramento Opera to develop and escort opera tours, not only to Europe, but to exciting venues around the world. We have been to performances at London’s Covent Garden, Paris’s Opera Garnier, Milan’s Teatro LaScala, the Temple of Karnak in Egypt, the Bolshoi in Moscow, and many more.
In addition to the music of Europe, I have enjoyed hiking and biking in Burgundy, cruising the rivers Rhine, Danube, Rhone and Elbe, and hiking in the Bavarian Alps.
If you are looking for help planning a special trip to Europe, I would love to share my knowledge of some its delights and unique places.

I have traveled the world over, but my heart belongs to Greece (my homeland), Italy and France. I have lived in these three countries and traveled extensively throughout each of them. There are no questions about them that I am unable to answer for you, and no city or town that I can't describe in passionate detail to you. Each of these beautiful countries is unique in its own right and alive with history. I can recommend the best restaurants to try and help you select the best hotels that meet your European vacation needs. I would love to share the beauty of each country with you. Through my own personal experiences, I can help you plan a unique Europe vacation tailored just for you.

from a client: For a second summer in a row, the arrange-ments you made for our family's European travels have been superb! We have had extremely complicated flight needs, we expected to see cities in rather short time frames, and we needed to please kids ranging in age from 16 to 8, as well as us. Not only did the trip go smoothly, we feel truly immersed in the history and culture of some amazing places! In Italy, we were so pleased with our guides. In Venezia, we enjoyed a half day learning about the history and architecture of this truly unique place, including "express" entrances to the Campanile and the Basilica San Marco (with water rising in the Piazza!). The following day, we thoroughly enjoyed our water taxi and terrific guided tour of the islands of Murano, Torcello and Burano, highlighted by the glass blowing and private demonstration at CAM. As we proceeded to Firenze, we again were dazzled by our guide, Enza, who was impressivelyknowledgeable about over a thousand years of history and architecture. All in all, these experiences have created memories that will last a lifetime for all of us. Thank you so much for being not just an outstanding travel agent, but a trusted advisor on how to get the most out of every aspect of enjoying some of the world's greatest cities. Where do you think we should plan on going next?! Sincerely, Shari D.
