When you think about South America, what comes first to mind? Is it the Argentine gauchos, the adorable llamas of Peru, the towering peaks of Torres del Paine in Chile, or cosmopolitan centers like Buenos Aires, Rio and Lima? Though mostly Spanish speaking today, these diverse and awesome countries share their European heritage with their beloved indigenous forebears. Soft adventure, or hard, can be combined with exquisite lodges in the most remote areas. You can wear yourself out hiking all day and flop into a dream bed in the evening; run a river by day and dine on the succulent beef or lamb at night. I can design a trip for you that would show you the vineyards of Chile and Argentina, the high Andes of Peru. In Peru, ruins are everywhere. Iquitos is the beginning of your jungle experience. Rustic jungle lodges and Amazon River trips take you back in time. Heading south, you can experience Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. It is spattered with many islands, many of which you can rent a villa for a few nights. These are just a few ideas, Marvel at scenery that grabs your breath and refuses to let go. If you can imagine it, you more than likely can probably do it in South America. The American dollar still goes farther here than in most places in the world. You don't have a lot of times zones to travel across, thereby making your recovery from flying very easy. At any time of the year, there is a place in South America that will be perfect. Please be in touch with me for first-hand knowledge travel planning. Whether you wish to see the capital cities or venture into the Pantanal, the Amazon, or anywhere in between, it will be my pleasure to be of service.

One of my longtime interests has been traveling to "off the beaten path" destinations. South America is a fabulous destination full of lifetime memories, and there are experiences for everyone's taste and budget. When I went to the Galapagos Islands, I saw wildlife not seen anywhere else in the world. There were wingless birds, sea iguanas and land tortoises, now almost extinct. There are even penguins at the equator. In Peru, I traveled to the Amazon River and saw the Inca cities of Cuzco and Machu Picchu. The sophisticated cities of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio deJaneiro, Brazil are a "must see." Chile, now famous for its wines, has much to see and do. The Atacama Desert and the Torres del Paine National Park provide opportunities for the adventurous traveler. On my cruise through the Magellan Straits, I saw abundant wildlife, glaciers, and visited Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Iguassu Falls is something that once seen will stay with you forever. See the Falls from the top and then from below, in a raft. I'll be eager to arrange your South American vacation!

from a client (2007): We had a great trip, everything you arranged for us was really wonderful! Thank you for taking such good care of us! I will try to give you more details that might be helpful with future clients, but overall it was fabulous. The flights were fine. Your ground arrange-ments were perfect, on time, every time. We never had to think about any details. We had two guides and they both added a tremendous amount to our enjoyment of the places we visited. They were polite and thoughtful and very knowledgeable. The hotel in the Sacred Valley was quite charming, we enjoyed spending the evening in the courtyard, with live music and even ping pong and billiards. The sights, Macchu Pichu, Ollaytantambo, etc, speak for themselves. What else can you say about one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The information the guides gave us on the history of the sights was really excellent, and the little side trips to the llama and alpaca place, and the local market in Cusco, were thoughtful additions for our seven year old. The Monasterio was fabulous. They upgraded our room to a deluxe suite which was lovely to look at as well as luxurious! We ate at the Illary, the Monasterio's nicer restaurant, and the service was great, but the food was a little disappointing. The breakfast buffet, however, was very good. All in all a fabulous trip, thank you again! Marissa P.
